Sensex climbs 83 points, closes near Nifty 10350
Due to good global signals today the Indian markets were good at the beginning. However, after showing early expansion in the opening session, the markets were trading in a limited range throughout the day. Today Nifty knocks up to 10368.7, then the Sensex reached 33654.53. Finally, the Nifty closed around 10345, while the Sensex closed under 33600.
Mid-cap stocks have seen pressure today, while smallcap stocks have seen little purchases. BSE's mid-cap index closed flat with a slight decline. At the same time, the mid-cap 100 index of Nifty is also flat. However, the BSE's Smallcap index has closed up by 0.25 percent.
The news of the toughness of the Bankerpower Act was witnessed today by the public sector banks. Bank Nifty closed marginally at 25,767 level, while Nifty's PSU Bank Index gained 1.25 percent. Today, shopping has been seen in auto, FMCG, media and realty stocks. However, there was pressure in pharma, metal and private bank stocks.
The BSE 30-share index Sensex closed 83 points, or 0.25 per cent, at 33,561.5. NSE's 50-share index Nifty closed at 15.4 points, which is 0.15 percent higher at 10,342.3.
In today's business, GE Entertainment, Adani Ports, GAIL, UltraTech Cement, Ambuja Cement, HDFC, BHEL, SBI and Asian Paints have been closed for 4-1.25 per cent. However, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Infratel, Arvindo Pharma, Hindalco, Dr Reddy's, Axis Bank, Lupine, Bharti Airtel and NTPC were down by 2.3-0.75 per cent in the giants.
